About

Reviews & Things is a blog written by a movie watcher. I love the whole experience of watching a film, I really do. I love the beginning part, the one where you're still picking out what you're going to see. We all have our ways of screening for the next flick we're going to waste time on but whatever your method is, it's really where your movie experience begins.

The next step is the actual viewing. If you're into the standard Hollywood flick, you are looking to be entertained (by romance, comedy, action or horror). If you're into the indie flick that may or may not come from Hollywood, then you're looking to learn (generally about human nature). If you don't care what you're looking at as long as it makes you think (about how absolutely bad or fantastically good the movie is) then you're not really looking for anything. I think I'm in that last category, though I will add my personal bits into that definition. Even though I'm not looking for anything when I think about watching a movie, there hasn't been a single one I've seen that hasn't entertained me (and yes, I have seen non-Hollywood films).

So just because you're not after entertainment, doesn't mean you won't get it.

All of that being said, let me explain a little my process of reviewing movies. It goes like this: I watch, I judge, I write it down. Now I'll admit, there are movies worth reviewing and then there are movies not worth reviewing. Usually I make a snap decision about halfway through the thing. It doesn't take much. If it's good, I might review it. If it's bad then there's no point. Although if it's especially bad, it goes on the 'might review' list.

One last thing. I don't review many of the things I tell myself I will review, but I try. I really do.

Toodles!
